Why not make my own Grammarly? Why not use AI?
I keep a newsletter and a daily blog. On a Thursday I wrote both my weekly newsletter and that day's post. The next day I read them carefully and I was shocked by how many mistakes they had. The newsletter had around 10 mistakes and the daily post had 4, I think.
Unacceptable.
I tinkered with the idea of hiring or finding a reviewer partner, but I'm not sure if I wanted to add someone in the process at that moment. Also, I already used AI to review my texts and point mistakes in them occasionally. It made sense to incorporate AI text review in my workflow.
The extension would allow me to review texts in several websites. I write regularly to Substack, my daily blog. I write occasionally to LinkedIn and other sites (like this one).
In less than an hour I was testing the MVP and with another 40 minutes I refined the features and polished the extension. I'm very happy with the result.
The extension does not change the original text directly, the user has the last word and the extension only assists him in deciding what to change. This way I can learn something during the process, it's not a mindless "fix all" button press.
Needless to say, the extension does not replace a wiser and more experienced writer's manual review. But in the matters of grammar, spelling, clarity of text, it does an excellent job.
